HURRICANES AND TROPICAL STORMS

Prepare an evacuation plan. Know where you will go and research several alternate routes before a hurricane threatens. Make sure friends and family members know your route and destination.

Prepare your supplies early.

Make sure you have any traveling supplies you may need for an extended trip including:

Any medicines you may need

Batteries and Flashlights

A portable radio

Food and water

A full tank of gas

A fully charged cellular phone

Be prepared to evacuate upon the orders of your local authorities. Don't wait until the last minute when you will risk increased traffic congestion and the possibility of driving in adverse conditions.

Make sure your vehicle is serviced before the storm approaches. Don't be caught off-guard — get your vehicle serviced at the start of hurricane season.

Do not drive through flooded roads. See the flood driving safety tips for more.

Be alert for high winds. Visit the high winds safety tips.
